QSPORTS VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE RULES & REGULATIONS

Team Structure

·             6-a-side, 6 substitutes

·           12 players assigned to each team All players must be registered by completing the necessary forms prior to competing for any team.

·           No additional players can be allocated to a team once 12 individuals have been registered to a team. Exceptions will be handled on a case by case basis.

·             A maximum of 12 players per game may be used. All players must be named on the team sheet prior to game.

·         Any team playing an unregistered player will automatically lose the match 2 – 0 and be awarded zero points.

League Structure (subject to change)

·            The tournament will comprise a maximum of 16 Teams

·           Playoffs -If there are 2 groups of 8 teams first 2 from each group will proceed to playoffs. If there are 3 groups of 8 teams, then top 2 teams from each group plus TWO 2nd best teams between all the groups will proceed to the playoffs.

·            Rated or Professional club players are NOT allowed. 

·              A player may not play in the playoffs, if the player has not played at least 1 game in the group stages.

·              Teams are asked to ensure that all players arrive 15 minutes prior to their scheduled game times.

·             Schedules once published, cannot be changed as this disrupts remaining league schedule.

·           Each game will last a total of 25 points. Each team will play 1-2 games (Best of 3 sets) per night. Semifinals and Finals to be Best of 5 sets.

·               1 minute time out allowed in each game. 2 minute (break between games)

 

League Points

·               3 points awarded per win

·               0 points for loss

·               For and Against games will be recorded

·          Tournament placing will be decided by points gained, followed by points difference, followed by games won, followed by the aggregate result between the two teams in question.

·               Failure for a team to show equals a game forfeit and automatic loss of 20 and zero points awarded.

·               A team can only take to the field of a minimum of 6 players registered for that team are available to play.

·               If a team fails to field sufficient players for 2 games they will be suspended from the tournament and forfeit all payments to Q-Sports.

·        A full fixture list of game dates and times will be issued prior to the start of the season and can be found on the "Schedule" section of www.qsports.qa.

Game Rules (League Rules are not exhaustive and may be added to or amended at any time)

·               The Serve

·               First game serve is determined by a toss

·               Server must serve from behind the restraining line (end line)

·               Ball may be served underhand or overhand.

·               Served ball may touch the net and drop to the other side for point

·               Scoring

·               Rally point scoring

·               Offense will score on a defense miss or out of bounds hit.

·               Defense will score on an offensive miss, out of bounds hit, or serve into the net.

·               Game must be won by 2 points

·               Team will rotate each time they win the serve

·                Playersshall rotate in a clockwise manner

·               There shall be minimum 6 players on each side

·                Playing the Game

·               Teams play 1 game per night (Best of 2 sets)

·                Playermay not hit the ball twice in succession (block is not considered a hit )

·               Ball may be played off the net during a volley and on serve.

·               A ball touching a boundary line is valid

·               If two or more players contact the ball simultaneously, it is considered one play and the players involved may not participate in the next play

·               Violations

·               Stepping on or over the line on a serve.

·               Failure to serve the ball over the net successfully.

·               Hitting the ball illegally (carrying, palming, throwing)

·               Touches of the net with any part of the body while the ball is in play

·               Reaching over the net, except under these conditions:

·               When executing a follow-through

·               When blocking a ball which is in the opponents court but is being returned ( the blocker must not contact the ball until after the opponent who is attempting to return the ball makes contact)

·               Failure to serve in the correct order

Unsportsmanlike Conduct

·               Referees may issue warnings to players for team and personal unsportsmanlike conduct or safety concerns. Staff may also ask players to leave the game for a specified amount of time if they feel it is for the betterment of the team and/or game. If a player fails to respect a staff member’s decisions or heed their warnings, they may be ejected from the game, season or an indefinite amount of time.

·               Judgment calls made by the referee shall NOT be contested. A formal protest can be made at any time by letting the referee and the league coordinator aware of the situation. QSports will review the protest and make a ruling before the next week’s game.

·               Any individual who by his misconduct (profanity, gestures, physical or verbal abuse toward officials, players, etc.) causes himself to be removed from a contest is automatically ineligible to participate for the remainder of that contest, any other games that day and at least one full week. That person may also be assessed additional suspensions.

 

Other Information

·               All players must sign an indemnity waiver before the start of the league.

·               Drinks will be provided during the game.

·               No change in schedule is allowed once tournament schedule has been published unless in exceptional circumstances.

HOW TO REGISTER

        To register a team, a player from each team must register as a Team Captain on http://qsports.qa This provides him with admin rights, and he can invite his team mates to join his team (“Add Players”) by sending an email invite through his account. Invited players will register as Team Players and select their team from the list when prompted. Existing team captain/players do NOT have to create a NEW account. They can use their existing username and register for the league. Email address can also be used to log in instead of the username. 

All players MUST complete the mandatory registration information on their profile. Incomplete profiles are automatically deleted and the player will not be able to play in the league. 

Free agents are players who do not have any team. They may register as free agents and QSports will do its best to place them in a team.
